Coriander is an annual herb and it is used randomly in Indian cooking. It is mainly grown for both the seeds and leaves. It is known as cilantro. It is a soft plant without hair and grows up to 50 cms in length. It is native to Africa and Asia.

In South Asian foods, Mexican salsas it is used. Sometimes the leaves are used and at other times the seeds are crushed and used. The leaves are mainly used for garnishing dishes.

The seeds of coriander must be sown from April to July. They can be grown in small pots all through the year. It demands fertile and a well drained soil.

You must remove the seedlings when they get crowded. Maintain a distance of few centimeters in between the plants. Sunny weather is ideal. Move away the flowering stems. This will augment good growth of the leaves.
